Executive Retreats: What Works and What Doesn't

Executive Retreats are the critical juncture where senior team members work out their issues, set strategy for the future and establish through action, the behaviors and values that drive the organizational culture. Facilitating executives however, can have its perils. Senior team members, by the nature of their roles, can be quite politically savvy, clever and demanding.

Come engage with Dr. Steve Phillips as he creates thought provoking and challenging dialogue about what works and does not work with executive level teams.  In the session we will consider: What is most important to the participants?  What makes for a successful retreat?  What is a sure fire way kill a retreat?  What we should, and should never do as professional facilitators.

Steve will not just offer us a lively discussion, but also will discuss his proven processes, tools, and techniques for executive retreats that guarantee results.

You won’t want to miss this one.

    About Steve

Steven L. Phillips, Ph.D. is well known for leading Executive Retreats that get results.  Dr. Phillips specializes in strategic planning, customized high potential leadership development and one-on-one executive level coaching. Steve works with senior high potentials to help them succeed and transition to their next level position.  In addition to being a successful consultant for over 20 years working with such well known companies as Microsoft, PepsiCo, Viacom, Mattel, and many others, Dr. Phillips has extensive experience as a Senior Executive. For many years he served as a SVP Chief Talent Officer for a privately held 1B company with 10,000 employees where he implemented a full suite of human capital management programs designed to ensure a highly skilled and productive workforce.

What Really Matters: How to Utilize Competencies

Competencies.  We hear the word and generally know what we mean: skills, talents, abilities.  But do we have any fun teaching our leaders or managers about them?  Do we know how to understand them in a way that will make a difference?  In hiring?  In performance management?  In career development?  Come spend an enjoyable hour with Sue Sorensen utilizing What Really Matters… Competency Cards, a fabulous trainer’s tool.  You’ll take away some new skills, and receive some free resources and activities that you can easily utilize with clients if you are external or with managers and teams if you are in-house.

    About Sue

Sue Sorensen is the designer of the entire trademarked “What Really Matters…” management training series.  Sue’s credentials include a Master’s Degree from USC, SPHR and CPLP certifications.

She has been designing and delivering HR and training initiatives since the early 1990’s.  Early on Sue worked in-house corporate training management roles, her last role as a National Vice President of T&D for a top ten construction company.  Sue is now President and lead consultant for SSA Training, exclusive providers of What Really Matters… training products and services.
