You will learn about and reflect on the very nature and purpose of communication. And how understanding its very nature is key to building a culture of transparency in your organization. In learning teams, you will discover how to use the concept of self-awareness in communication and explore a model that can be applied to any
communication challenge. Practicing the model, you will work through case scenarios that illustrate communication gaps and devise solutions to bridge those gaps. You will also have an opportunity to apply skills learned and put your own communication challenge to the test by crafting an action plan while receiving invaluable peer feedback.

Deidre Alves M.Ed. has more than 14 years of professional expertise in training, learning, and development. She has held various positions in Fairfax County Public Schools, The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C., NCATE, and Envision EMI and representative roles to The National Press Club, CATO Institute, American Enterprise Institute, Advisory Council of The National Academies, and Human Capital Media’s Chief Learning Officer Virtual Symposium. Deidre has presented at numerous professional learning and education conferences nationwide and is an active researcher in workplace trends for the year 2020 workforce with special interests in informal mobile learning models, collaborative social environments, emotional literacy in leadership and technology, and creativity in organizational innovation.
Deidre earned her Master’s Degree in Education Multicultural Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The Catholic
University of America in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish for International Service. She is currently the Chief Learning Officer and President of Sprout Development Group
